Mission

 

Clean Water Action is a national citizens' organization working for clean, safe and affordable water, prevention of health-threatening pollution, creation of environmentally safe jobs and businesses, and empowerment of people to make democracy work. CWA focuses on community participation in environmental politics and electing environment-friendly representatives at the local, state and national levels. Clean Water Fund is a 501c3 organization that focuses on research and education to promote the public interest with a special emphasis on water issues. The two organizations often collaborate on campaigns and share staff and office space.

Programs/
Projects

The Clean and Safe Water program seeks to advance policies which promote the protection of natural resources and which safeguard drinking water -- including community right to know, source water protection and health protective standards for contaminants. Program services include community level pilot projects, capacity building workshops on water quality, policy reports, and the Watershed to Watertap email activist network. The Preventing Harm program seeks to educate parents, care providers, and health practitioners about the links between chemical use/exposure and developmental disabilities in children. The goal of the project is to mobilize these constituencies to take action in their homes, schools, workplaces and in society at large to reduce the use of these toxins, to prevent health threatening exposures and to advance the precautionary principle. Program services include workshops, leadership development, educational materials in several languages, and networking.
