This colloquium was initiated as part of the Berkeley Workshop on Environmental Politics, an interdisciplinary program which also sponsored working groups, conferences, and residential fellowships. Colloquium meetings are entirely devoted to the discussion of papers that are made available in advance of the session. The workshop is funded by the Luce Foundation and the Hewlett Foundation.
