ALPHA DELTA KAPPA- International Teacher Education Scholarship. Availability: Women only. Purpose: To promote better world-wide understanding through the field of education and focus attention upon the operations of Alpha Delta Kappa (an international honorary society for women educators). Through the program, scholarships are offered to foreign women students interested in learning American educational techniques. Eligibility: The applicants must be single women under 30 years of age from countries other than the United States who rank academically in the top quarter of their class and who are interested in teacher training in the United States. Recipients must have well rounded personalities and display qualities of leadership. Awards will not be awarded to members of Alpha Delta Kappa. Financial Data: The scholarships are at least $1,500. Duration: One year. Special Features: The scholarships are tenable in the U.S. at any accredited institution of higher learning. Limitations: Limitations: The recipient is encouraged to live in an American college or university dormitory or college approved housing. The applicant must be an unmarried woman with no dependents and under thirty years of age. She must also be a non-U.S. citizen residing outside the United States. Doctoral studies are beyond the scope of this program. Number Awarded: Seven each year. ALTRUSA INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION, INC.- Graduate Incentive Award. Program Description: Awards of $250-$1,000 are given to graduate women from developing countries who are in need of emergency funds to complete their graduate work. Study must be carried out in a country other than the applicant's own and in which Altrusa is established. The U.S. is one such country. Eligibility: 1. Students in all fields are eligible to apply. 2. Applicants must be full-time students at any level of graduate study as long as they have completed at least one half of the program at the institution from which they are applying. 3. This program is open only to women. 4. The competition is limited to citizens of the countries of Latin America, Asia and the middle East, plus citizens of Melanesia and Polynesia. Applicants must not have received previous grants from Altrusa International and must return to their home countries upon completion of their studies. Application Procedure: Submission of an application form is required, including letter of purpose; details of the applicant's background, financial need, and future plans; photograph and transcript.
