Personal History

How did you get so involved in the UN at such a young age?

Jessie

I had always wanted to work for the League of Nations, and six years as a soldier in World War II only increased my wish to work for a world organization devoted to peace.

What UN organizations were you instrumental in creating or reforming?

Greer

I was one of the original small team which set up and directed peacekeeping operations. I was one of the three people who set up the International Atomic Energy Agency, and I have spent my declining years ceaselessly suggesting ways to reform the UN. With little or no success, I may add.
