Although one does not want to fall into the appeasement trap, it can be devastating to take an aggressive stance with a nation. Looking at past conflicts and mediations, do you believe that the handing over of the Kosovo situation to NATO by the UN has endangered the peace process with Yugoslavia?
Model UN Program, Marin Academy High School
I don't think that the peace process has been endangered. The question is, has it been enhanced? Actually, the NATO peace process has the general authorization of the UN Security Council. It remains to be seen whether NATO can be effective in overcoming the enormous difficulties of making peace in former Yugoslavia. In this effort, a major problem has been, and remains, the different views of the countries most involved.
