Alain de Janvry is Professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics at UC Berkeley, and a member of the Institute's Executive Committee. His research interests include problems of agricultural policy and rural development in the Third World, especially in Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. Professor de Janvry received his Ingenieur Agronome degree from the Institut National Agronomique in Paris, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Agricutural Economics from UC Berkeley. His publications include Agricultural Price Policy and Income Distribution in India (co-author, Delhi: Oxford University Press, 1986), Quantitative Development Policy Analysis (co-author, Baltimore: The Johns Hopkins University Press, 1995), and "Project Evaluation for Sustainable Rural Development: Plan Sierra in the Dominican Republic," World Development 28: 135-54, 1995 (co-author).
