Director of the Economics Program at the Santa Fe Institute and Professor of Economics at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. His primary research interests are the relationship between wealth inequalities, incomplete contracts and the governance of economic transactions in firms, markets and communities, the coevolution of preferences and institutions, and the role of non selfish motives in explaining behavior, and the implications of these topics for policies concerning education, cooperative production and egalitarian redistribution.

Philippe Aghion Aghion, Philippe [~132K pdf]
Professor of Economics at Harvard University. Has studied the implications of credit market imperfections for the growth process and its relation to wealth distribution, the theory of the firm in the context of incomplete information, the endogenous process of innovations, and the political economy of reform in the transition process in Eastern Europe. Editor of The Economics of Transition, a journal brought out by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
