Thinking About Religion, Secularism and Politics

This interview is part of the Institute's "Conversations with History" series, and uses Internet technology to share with the public Berkeley's distinction as a global forum for ideas.

Conversations with History host Harry Kreisler welcomes international lawyer Laurent Cohen-Tanugi for a discussion of globalization and its impact on the geopolitics of the 21st century. Because of the interface between globalization and geopolitics, Cohen-Tanugi argues that there is a resurgence of the global struggle for power not its demise. In the conversation, Cohen-Tanugi reflects on the relative decline of the West, the failure to integrate the Islamic world, and the emergence of new centers of power such as China and India. He also analyzes the major challenges to global order and stability in the new century.
